On 12 October 2024, a chess competition for visually impaired persons was organized on the occasion of World Sight Day. The event was arranged by the Disabled Welfare Society (DWS) in collaboration with the Somotar Bangladesh Campaign.
The program was honored by the presence of Engr. Md. Maksudur Rahman, Secretary of the National Paralympic Council, as the Chief Guest, and Mahmuda Haque Chowdhury (Moli), Managing Director of Elegant International Chess Academy, as the Special Guest. Also present were Ms. Morjina Ahmed, Executive Director of DWS, Ms. Mushtari Begum, Treasurer of DWS, along with other distinguished guests.
The event encouraged visually impaired individuals to engage in intellectual sports, creating a spirit of confidence, inclusion, and inspiration among participants.
