For the past 11 years, the Disabled Welfare Society (DWS) has been distributing essential food items such as polao rice, sugar, vermicelli, and powdered milk among poor persons with disabilities on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
Continuing this tradition, on 24 May 2019, DWS organized a food distribution program for poor and disabled families. The distributed items included polao rice, sugar, vermicelli, milk, and soybean oil.
The event was attended by K.M. Shahiduzzaman, Social Services Officer of Social Services Office–6, Dhaka; Ms. Morjina Ahmed, Executive Director of DWS; and Ms. Mushtari Begum, President of DWS. The program began with a welcome speech from the Executive Director, followed by remarks from the President, who praised the initiative of sharing Eid happiness with persons with disabilities. The guests then jointly handed over the food packages to each beneficiary family, which brought great joy to the participants.
In total, 40 families received food packages this year. The Executive Director assured that DWS plans to expand this initiative further in the coming years to reach more families in need.
